Terms of service

In short: these terms explain how buying from sweetsnthings.co.uk works: ordering, prices, delivery and collection, returns, faulty items and your rights. We've kept them as plain as we can. They don't affect your statutory rights.

1. About us

This website is run by Sweets 'n' Things, a family-run shop at The Maltings, Worle, Weston-super-Mare BS22 6JB. VAT number GB306053050.

Contact us: phone 01934 511555, WhatsApp 07365 001155, email info@sweetsnthings.co.uk, or visit the shop.

2. These terms

These terms apply when you buy from our website as a consumer. Please read them before you order. We may update them from time to time; the version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to it.

3. Your order and our contract

  • When you place an order you'll get an email confirming we've received it. Our contract with you starts when we confirm your order has been accepted, or when we send or get your order ready for collection, whichever comes first.
  • We may not be able to accept an order, for example if an item is out of stock, there's an obvious pricing mistake, or we can't verify payment. If so, we'll tell you and refund anything you've paid.
  • For limited releases (such as some trading cards) we may limit how many each customer can buy, and we may cancel orders that break those limits.

4. Products and stock

We try hard to show products accurately, but colours on screens vary, designs can change slightly from the photos, and packaging can differ from the picture. Our website stock follows our shop's stock. Because we also sell in the shop, very occasionally an item can sell out after you've ordered it. If that happens we'll contact you straight away and refund you in full for anything we can't supply.

5. Prices and payment

  • Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Delivery charges are shown at checkout before you pay.
  • If we find an obvious mistake in a price, we'll contact you before your order goes out. You can then go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • Payment is taken when you place your order. Card payments are handled securely by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card details.

6. Delivery and click & collect

  • We deliver to UK addresses. Delivery options, prices and times are shown at checkout and on our Shipping policy.
  • Delivery times are estimates. We're not responsible for delays caused by events outside our control, but we'll always help chase a late parcel.
  • Click & collect orders can be collected from our shop during opening hours once we've emailed to say they're ready. Please bring your order email or number. If an order hasn't been collected after 7 days we'll send you a reminder text, and we'll keep it safe for you until we've been in touch.
  • Items become your responsibility once they've been delivered to the address you gave us, or once you've collected them.

7. Helium balloons

  • Helium-filled balloons are collection only. You'll choose a collection day and time when you order.
  • Balloons are inflated to order in our shop with pure helium and checked when inflated. How long a balloon floats depends on the manufacturer, size and temperature. Our balloon care & guarantee explains what to expect and what to do if there's a problem. In short: report a fault with a photo within 24 hours of collection for foil balloons, or within the float time for latex balloons.
  • Because they're made to your order, helium-filled balloons can't be returned for a change of mind.
  • Balloons not bought from us but inflated by us are filled without a guarantee.
  • Balloons are not toys for young children. Keep uninflated or burst balloons away from children under 8.

8. Your right to cancel (changing your mind)

You can cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. Our Refund policy explains how, what it costs, how quickly you'll be refunded, and the items that can't be returned unless faulty (food and sweets, helium-filled balloons, personalised items, unsealed hygiene items and gift cards).

Trading cards: sealed trading card products can be returned within 14 days if they're still sealed. The cards inside are random, so opening a sealed product goes beyond what's needed to check it; if it comes back opened, we may reduce your refund by the loss in value, which for an opened pack is usually its full price. We can't accept returns because of the cards pulled. See our Refund policy for details.

9. Faulty items and your legal rights

We're required by law to supply goods that are as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something is faulty or not as described, please contact us as soon as you can. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 include a full refund within 30 days, and a repair, replacement or refund after that. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Advice is available from Citizens Advice.

10. Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach. We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. We don't limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

11. Events outside our control

We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, courier failures or supplier shortages. If one affects your order we'll let you know, and you can cancel for a refund if the delay is significant.

12. Gift cards and discount codes

Our website gift cards can be spent on sweetsnthings.co.uk; they can't currently be used on our shop tills. Discount codes are subject to the conditions shown with them, can't be exchanged for cash and can usually be used once per customer.

13. Your privacy

We only use your personal information as set out in our Privacy policy.

14. Complaints and the law

If you're unhappy with anything, please talk to us first and we'll do our best to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or in Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
